Writing a better Linkedin Profile introduction with OpenAI and ChatGPT.

I have been using OpenAI for other sorts of projects, and I got to thinking I need to update my Linkedin Profile, how would OpenAI handle it?

I am using my linkedin profile, https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnmartyniak/.

My current Introduction is:

John manages the development and operations staff while providing hands-on guidance for strategic hardware and software solutions. John has led numerous software development teams, and has proven to be an expert in designing and implementing software applications, web services, content management systems (CMS) and Internet portals. John's career spans more than two decades with key roles at both startups and global Fortune 500 companies, including positions at Disney and Canon USA. At Disney, John was a founding member of Disney.com, which quickly grew to over 1 million unique users. While at Canon, John was the Project Lead for the Canon USA Internet marketing site, which included 10,000+ pages of dynamic content, and assisted with designing and selecting of the new Canon USA Customer Support System. Which sounds ok, it has some details, it covers some experiences but I want to play around with the tone and the audience.

So trying a basic prompt to OpenAI

John is highly skilled at building and leading teams, architecting and developing complex technical solutions, and anticipating future technology trends. His expertise in designing and implementing software applications, web services, content management systems (CMS) and Internet portals has been proven time and again. When he's not hard at work, you can find John fly-fishing with his two sons on a Colorado river, taking the time to disconnect from the techno-world.

Which is not a bad result, shortened it up a little. The last sentence is kind of nice it inferred one of the reasons I like to fly-fish, disconnecting.

This result is really impressive. It is amazing how well it can craft a compelling intro, based on some initial details.

But given the exact same prompt and run a second time what kind of result comes back a second time.

John is an experienced and accomplished manager in the software and operations space, with a career spanning two decades of leading and directing teams. He has been instrumental in the design and implementation of web services, content management systems (CMS), Internet portals and other software applications. His prior roles include founding member of Disney.com, where he grew it to over 1 million unique users, and Project Lead for the Canon USA Internet marketing site. John is known for his ability to build teams, architect and develop solutions, and anticipate future goals and technology trends. When he’s not managing teams, you can find him fly-fishing with his two sons on a Colorado river.

I ended up using this one:

But this really begs the question, how are writers and editors jobs going to change? Is what Open AI and ChatGPT came up with good enough? The amount of time it took me to do this, could I have just written something in the first place?

These questions and many others will be answered over time. The one thing that I do know is that one of the benefits of Chat GPT/Open AI or even Bard, or other tools like them, it makes easy to do this at scale, or to easily change the text to reflect the job you are going after.

All in all very exciting.
